Creating a following in the Midwest performing body modification J. Coburn was able to cultivate an image of solid individuality which he promoted tirelessly. Taking advantage of the situation Coburn began designing and releasing his own line of clothing representing this vision. Continuously seeking to expand his horizons J. Coburn began speaking publicly on self improvement, self image, communication, and a laundry list of other subjects. With the little down time available Coburn also actively wrote and contributed to specialty industry magazines and websites based around body modification.

Two thousand four saw the release of Coburn’s first collection of writing titled Selections from the Serial Killer Cookbook (The Handbook for America’s Youth). Intended to open the lines of communication, push people beyond their own limits, and question the world around us, Selections from the Serial Killer Cookbook garnered a devout cult following, becoming required reading in many interpretive writing courses. In the years since the books release many fans, or Legion as he refers to them, have been seen sporting the three dot logo so recognizable on/in any of Coburn’s work.

J. Coburn continues to add to his list of accomplishments, starting a record label in two thousand six. Two thousand seven has a lot on the table as well. Coburn is planning on adding custom hand tailored slacks to his fashion line, one book finished and ready for print , just released Through the EYES of an Abstract Mind, a coffee table book of photographs is in the works, a book of compiled writings is in process, as well as putting the finishing touches on the second album release on his record label.
